Designed to be a smaller, affordable alternative to battleships and cruisers, armoured gun boats were the favoured type of small warship favoured by most industrial navies in the fifties and early sixties, and many lesser navies still employ them. However, the introduction of the faster torpedo gun boats gradually saw the armoured gun boats being phased out and by 2188, only the Warrior class remain in service.

2nd Expeditionary Army

1st Aprila. 2188.

Due to increasing unrest and ethnic tensions on the Island of Biela, the government of Regnia has assembled an expeditionary task force under the command of General Sir Gustaf Dashfern. The Second Expeditionary Army, currently based at Port Heelverweg, is intended to impose Regnian military dominance as a counter to Sinopian interference, either by the threat of armed intervention or by actual invasion if the situation deteriates.

Currently the Second Expeditionary Army consists of an infantry battalion from the Imperial Regnian Regiment, two infantry battalions from the Norland Rifle Regiment and a battalion of the Imperial Artillery Regiment (armed with 4.7 inch QF Guns and 8 inch BL Howitzers). Total ground forces number two thousand seven hundred men and fifteen heavy guns.

Logistic and naval cover for the Second Expeditionary Army is provided by the Second Squadron of the Northern Fleet under the Command of Vice Admiral Jaak beDoel.
