Tree Class



Type: Patrol steamer.
Displacement: 287 Imperial tons.
Length: 129 ft 7 in (40 m).
Beam: 23 ft 5 in (7 m).
Draught: 14 ft (4.5 m).
Propulsion: Triple expansion reciprocating steam engine. 1 Shaft.
Speed: 10 knots (12 mph; 19 km/h).
Complement: 12 Officers and men.
Armament: 1 × QF 12-pounder (76-mm) gun.

Numerous in the northern seas, the Tree class were designed for, and largely operated by, the Northern Fleet Auxiliary. Twenty were originally built from 2167 to 2170, with a further four added in 2172. Six of these have since been sold out of the service, two have been scrapped and one was lost with all hands. The remaining vessels in service are as follows: Juniper. Willow. Larch. Ash. Oak. Birch. Olive. Elm. Apple. Cedar. Rose. Bark. Beech. Poplar. Chestnut.
