Serpent Class


Type: Torpedo gun boats.
Displacement: 545 Imperial tons.
Length: 225 ft (69 m).
Beam: 23 ft 6 in (7.16 m).
Draught: 10 ft 10 in (3.30 m).
Propulsion: 2 x vertical triple expansion steam engine. 2 x shafts. 4 x screws.
Speed: 25.5 knots (29.3 mph; 47.2 km/h).
Complement: 70 Officers and men.
Armament: 4 x QF 12 pdr on pedestal mountings. 2 x 18-inch (450-mm) torpedo tubes.

Built at the Royal Arsenal in Takshendal, launched between 2175 and 2178, the unassuming Serpent class are five torpedo gun boats designed and built specifically for the Northern Fleet. Together with the Warrior and Heliot class they make up the bulk of the fleet's fighting vessels.

In 2188 their commanding officers are; Viper: Captain Gerald Oldmoat. Adder: Captain Willard Rutfallow. Serpent: Captain René Étalon. Asp: Captain Otto Hengst. Taipan: Captain Tom Hurdle.
