Built and launched at the Royal Arsenal in Takshendal in 2171, Drastic was originally intended as a littoral patrol ship, and served as such until 2178 when she was reassigned as a training ship. After a collision in 2182 she was towed back to Takshendal and laid up until 2184 when despite her size, she was refitted as a torpedo gun boat. Her engines and boilers were replaced and her torpedo tubes reduced from six to two. She was recommissioned into the Northern Fleet as a despatch ship in 2185. In 2188 her commanding officer is Captain Maurice Wickfountain.
