Type: Patrol steamer.
Displacement: 320 Imperial tons.
Length: 130 ft (40 m).

Propulsion: Triple expansion reciprocating steam engine. 1 Shaft.
Speed: 10 knots (12 mph; 19 km/h).
Complement: 24 Officers and men.
Armament: 1 × QF 12-pounder (76-mm) gun.

Built at Kötka in 2167 as one of a pair, Narval spent her first fourteen years as a coastal patrol and convoy escort vessel in the Straits of Sottunga under the command of the Northern Fleet's Auxiliary Flotilla. In 2181, she was replaced in this role by the aging torpedo gun boat Fox, and reassigned to the Second Squadron as a patrol vessel under the command of Captain Curtis Bagmoss. Her sister ship is Steadfast.
